Executive Coaching

Les Deck’s work with a variety of C-level executives who run businesses in service, manufacturing, and distribution businesses, helps them to identify and eliminate their growth barriers one-by-one.

Rather than providing solutions, Les’ methods help the client to identify and develop their own solutions.

Accountability is central to his coaching work. Simple at first glance, accountability has many layers and quickly becomes complex. True accountability is successfully avoided regularly at all levels and for myriad reasons. Many managers and executives become adept at finding very plausible reasons why things don’t work and end up struggling to fill gaps in performance forever.

Information and content are virtually always available to us. In today’s world getting information has become easy. A search of the internet will turn up extensive expert information if not multiple step by step directions to do anything. While it is still possible that a few people lack the search skills or access to perform searches but that would be very few indeed. Hence it can be concluded that lack of information or knowledge of content is not a viable reason for failing to perform (being accountable) for any reasonable performance objective.

Reasons for not taking actions that will insure success are based in:

  1. Fear
  2. Habit
  3. Self Image
  4. Culture
  5. Belief Systems

To be truly accountable for actions that will result in meeting reasonable performance objectives the individual must come to terms with all of the above factors. Any failure to do so will and frequently does create a barrier or limiter to improved performance. That is what is happening when we know what to do but find great difficulty in taking even simple steps toward the goal.

I help people discover, surface, examine and deal with conflicts between performance objectives and key factors. That’s what Accountability Based Coaching is about.
